Sound Familiar?

You've bought the class pack before.

Signed up in January

Went twice. Then work ate the calendar and the membership kept quietly billing you anyway.

Big classes, zero coaching

Forty people in a room, an instructor on a mic, and nobody watching your form. You copy the person next to you and hope.

Workouts that punish you

High-impact everything. Your knees file a complaint by Wednesday and the couch wins by Friday.

Here's an opinion: most gyms make their money on the people who stop showing up. Reformer Pilates holds up differently when it's taught well. Springs give you real resistance without pounding your joints, and an instructor is right there adjusting every move to the body you walked in with.

Hard enough that you'll feel it tomorrow. Good enough that you'll want Thursday's class too.

Inside The Studio

Purple light, spring-loaded reformers, playlists that pull their weight. Watch the rooms move.

Why People Stay

Built for the second month.

Teachers who actually teach

Every instructor here has 400+ hours of training and keeps learning after that. They cue, they correct your form mid-move, and regulars say they know your name by week two.

Every move meets you where you are

Heavier or lighter options on each exercise, so a first-timer and a five-year member can work side by side. Beginners get walked through the reformer before class even starts.

45 minutes, full body, no filler

The signature Abs Arms Ass™ format hits everything in one class. The room glows pink and purple, and the playlist does half the motivating for you.

Nine studios, one standard

SoHo to Montauk, same reformers, same vibe, with classes running early morning to late evening, seven days a week. Train near work all winter and out east all summer.

First Class, Plainly

Here's exactly how your first class goes.

  • Come a few minutes early. The front desk gets you checked in and points you to your reformer.
  • Your instructor walks you through the machine before class starts. Springs, straps, all of it.
  • Every exercise has an easier and a harder version. You pick, they help you find it.
  • 45 minutes later you walk out sweaty and standing a little taller. One member swears she gained an inch.
Since 2013

Thirteen years of this.

Heather Andersen opened New York Pilates back in 2013, when reformer classes were still something you had to explain to your friends. Nine studios later, the method hasn't moved: form first, real spring resistance, rooms designed so carefully The New York Times called them "downtown chic."

Over 180,000 New Yorkers have taken class here. Vogue, goop, SELF, and Women's Health keep writing about it. And the instructors aren't hired off a job board. They're certified through NYP's own 400-hour training program before they ever teach you.

I've done over 100 classes and I take about 3 classes a week. I'm intentionally bragging because I've never been this consistent with a class or studio before lol The vibe is perfect and Alex plans the best class every time. It's always challenging yet restorative and idk how she does it but she's the absolute best. I only take her class because she's so intentional with her workouts and it shows!

I am at the Flatiron studio 3-4 times a week. I cannot say enough positive things about Alex Osorio's classes. Both innovative yet challenging, Alex approaches each class with intention and a positive attitude. I have grown so much in her classes and I can't wait to come back for the next one!

Instructor Kat is an informative, helpful, and enthusiastic teacher. I find her classes to be really engaging. I was initially nervous as an ultra beginner, but she helped me feel super comfortable. I find New York Pilates to be really inclusive and welcoming, too. Definitely recommend this spot!

I have been coming to NYP on and off for years and always make my way back to them after bad experiences with other reformer companies. I just had my 100th class! I find most of the instructors chill but engaging, no one yelling in your face to push you beyond what your body can handle. In fact they're quite good at name recognition and positive reinforcement. Instructors provide heavier or lighter modifications for every single move based on your skill level or capabilities for that day. Contrary to what others have experienced, I've had plenty of posture corrections which I agree is important. The studios are always clean and the temperature is comfortable, plus I LOVE the lighting and atmosphere. Changes I would like to see, as others have mentioned, are mirrors to monitor your form, less loud music, and a central/downtown Brooklyn location. The music seems to have evened out to a reasonable level in recent months so perhaps that issue has been addressed. Overall it's the best and most convenient pilates studio I've found in the city with plenty of locations and class availability. Pic as proof the workouts WORK.

I've absolutely fallen in love with New York Pilates, and a big reason for that is my incredible instructor, Stella Casas. From the moment you walk in, the studio feels clean, welcoming, and chic — a total vibe that motivates you to show up and move. Stella brings the perfect mix of encouragement, precision, and calm energy to every class. She really takes the time to make sure you're engaging the right muscles and maintaining proper form, while still keeping the flow fun and challenging. Whether you're a beginner or have been doing Pilates for a while, Stella meets you where you are and helps you level up. Her cues are so clear, and she has this amazing way of making small adjustments that completely change how an exercise feels (in the best way). I always leave class feeling stronger, more aligned, and re-energized. If you're thinking of trying Pilates or looking for a new instructor to inspire your practice — book a class with Stella at New York Pilates. You won't regret it!

My favorite workout- I've been working out at NYP since 2015 and so glad they opened this location in flatiron. I've been able to upgrade to unlimited and go 4-6days a week. Lisa and Kat are my favorite instructors but Meredith, Margiel and Camryn are also amazing.

I am an absolute beginner with pilates and have really enjoyed getting into pilates at their Flatiron location. Alex is a great instructor and walked me through everything I needed to know prior to class beginning since she knew I was new. The staff is always lovely to interact with. Also really appreciate the dressing rooms that are available and the fully stocked bathrooms (I definitely take advantage of the dry shampoo stocked in there!!).

I just wanted to give y'all a glowing review about last night. I didn't feel like throwing a birthday party so I texted my friends about which class I was taking and told them they could sign up with me. 11 of them did and we had THE BEST TIME. Marigela was so accommodating and hands on with the girls who had never taken an NYP class before and it genuinely made the experience so lovely. I love NYP so much, and it was so special to be able to share it with my girls. A few of them even bought 3 packs so I will be bringing them back lol love NYP forever xx 💜đŸĒŠ

NYP has been my main workout for the last two years. I feel mentally and physically strong and more flexible. The reason I keep coming back is the effective and efficient 45 minute classes, the positive environment, and the INCREDIBLE TEACHERS. I just left another phenomenal class with Matthew Mantenuto. I also love classes with Julia Scrak and the other phenomenal teachers too! Thank you NYP!

My favorite Pilates studio in the city by a landslide. The rate at which they're growing is a testament to how they've made Pilates easy and accessible to so many in NY. The more often you go, you find instructors that work best with your goals and style, which is how you get the best value from NYP. Also, obv the studio is stunning & good energy!!! And the team is kind and just full of good people - appreciate what Heather A has created!

I love this place for three reasons, environment, accessibility, and the trainers. Environment: this place is a vibe. Now I've only been to this location but seeing the purple lights as you go up the stairs and then entering the clean studio gets you ready for a focused yet invigorating work out. It always smells amazing with the candles they light and the bathrooms and separate changing rooms are cozy and VERY clean. Accessibility: the available time slots work with my schedule where I can go straight after work and find time on the weekends. They have a very user friendly app to access all of their locations but I've only gone to the soho location. It's also easy to give them a quick call and the customer service is up to par. If I need to reschedule it's easy to do so and there are a lot of options to always find a class offering that's right for you. Trainers: my colleague recommended for me to try NYP solely for their signature Abs, Arms, Ass workouts. Each class ensures you target each of these areas and I love it each time. I'm a curvy woman so some of these exercises can be difficult for me to try at first but Matt and Julia always make sure to support me with modifications. I always leave class feeling stronger and leaner. I swear I gained an inch in height just for the 4 weeks I've been going. I love the studio so much that I paid for the unlimited class package with no regrets. I highly recommend taking advantage of their intro packages to give them a try.

Good Questions

Before you ask.

No. Classes are built for all levels, and your instructor walks you through the reformer before class starts. Every exercise comes with heavier and lighter options, so beginners work next to regulars without anyone feeling out of place.

Yes. Low impact isn't low effort. The reformer uses spring resistance to work your whole body in 45 minutes, and members describe classes as challenging yet restorative. You'll feel it the next day.

Something you can move in, like leggings or shorts and a fitted top. Grip socks are standard on reformers. If you're not sure what to bring, ask when you book and the front desk will sort you out.

The one you'll actually get to. There are four Manhattan studios in SoHo, Bowery, West Village, and Flatiron, plus five across the Hamptons. Torn? Choose "Not sure yet" on the form and the team will help you match a studio to your week.

Request it through the form and the team sends the current intro offer with open class times at your studio. In NYC the packs are 3 classes, 10 classes, or one week unlimited. In the Hamptons it's 3, 5, or 10 classes. Pick a class and you're in.

A real person from the New York Pilates team reaches out with the current offer and openings near you. No card needed to ask, and no obligation to book.

Stop sampling workouts. Start a practice.

Somewhere between the first class and the tenth, this stops being a thing you try and becomes a thing you do. The intro offer is where that starts.
